Matt had struggled virtually all his life with severe Crohn& #39;s disease and he had another bad flareup earlier this year that coincided with the outbreak of COVID-19. While he was in the hospital waiting for a potential small intestine transplant, he contracted COVID. 3/
The combined effects of his underlying conditions and COVID took him from us at the too-young age of 49. I can& #39;t really tell you what all Matt meant to me except to say that I would probably literally not be here today if not for him. 4/
At one of the lowest points in my life, he was the one who kept my head above water. And what I& #39;ve learned in talking to people since his death is that he was that guy for so many people. But, again, for none more so than his daughter. 5/
Matt was good at a lot of things, but he was a tremendous dad. I wish more than anything that Lily didn& #39;t have to grow up without him. 6/
Nothing can replace him in her life, but I hope to at least honor his memory by trying to help make sure that Lily gets a good education, which he would have wanted. 7/
I have never before asked you all to contribute to anything. I don& #39;t have a Patreon (no offense to people who do!) or anything else. But if I& #39;ve ever provided you with content that was useful to you in any way, even for a laugh, I hope you& #39;ll consider donating. 8/
If you can& #39;t do that, I understand. Times are hard for many people. If you can give this thread a retweet or pass it to someone who may be willing and inclined to help, that would be helpful, too. 9/
Thank you all for your time and consideration. I& #39;ll be off Twitter most of the day doing additional fundraising things but I will get back to everyone who donates promptly. Know that you have my heartfelt thanks. End. 10/
