We keep telling people the thing to do is vote. And we must.

But here's the thing. Right now, an extraordinary array of American institutions are complicit in what's happening -- tech firms, media, donors.

We also need to raise the heat on this enabling. It's wake-up time.
Every company that has given to Trump or the GOP needs to be feeling the pressure. Every media organization needs to know that you're not going to stand for insipid both-sidesing. The tech firms need courageous employees to leak and citizen pressure to shut down disinformation.
This is not about Trump alone. This is being facilitated by broad institutional decay and failure. Some of it intentional, some of it not. A lot of it, frankly, is incompetence, moral blindness, and a lack of perspective.

We need to grasp this decay and fight every phase of it.
Facebook, for starters, should consider shutting down between now and the election. And, at a minimum, eliminating the trending and other methods of disinformation going viral. Do it now.
