According to the rules (5.1.004) an event must have a junior men’s race to be a UCI C1 or C2 event. The only exception is that a derogation may be granted if the race is not held on a Saturday or Sunday. Oct 11 is a Sunday. If this is a UCI decision and it was made as a health and safety precaution than bravo. I support it. But you have to announce it’s a rule change. You can’t just change it up arbitrarily. The US lost most of its C1s because the UCI remembered they had rules. Consistency matters.

My concern here is less that a race category is being removed and more that there is no transparency in the decision making. Who made the decision? Is this for every event from here on out? Have other rules been changed? Will there be a memorandum released so we know the changes?
