At Student Minds we were shocked by the new student measures recently implemented #studentlockdown.

Any measures need to be fair, non-discriminatory, and proportionate, with the mental health of our uni communities considered at every step of the process. We recommend:

We are yet to see evidence which demonstrates that students are actually more likely to violate social distancing than the wider population.

Government and unis need a clear plan for how they are going to support students & staff through this period of instability, and be ready for multiple eventualities.

They know what is happening on the ground and understand what would make them feel safer and supported. It is crucial that we listen before making decisions.
