Harry does not get enough credit for his lyrics.

I know *those people* attack him for using repetition, but repetition is such a key tool in writing. Poetry works entirely on repetition.

Clever writing uses repeating vowel and consonant sounds to creare harmony and rhythm.
Harry likes to use certain words: antidote pops up on both albums, he had a thing for hallways on HS1, and on Fine Line he uses a lot of shiny imagery.

It creates cohesion between tracks and albums. It's a continual story; the story of a man growing into himself.
The line YOUR WONDER UNDER SUMMER SKIES is a great example of what Harry does well.

Wonder/under: internal rhyme within the line

The open vowel sounds of yOUr WOnder UNder SUMmer .. try saying it slowly and feel how those words form.

And the 2x S of summer & skies.

Clever.
And then the repetition of lines & words. I feel like Fine Line is a good example of how you can build tension and story using repetition.

The way "we'll be a fine line" is used to build up to the emotional release of "we'll be alright" is a masterclass in storytelling.
"We'll be a fine line" is sung in increasingly desperate tones, ramping up tension, playing off the music and the vocal intensity in the back (listen to the acapella version floating around) .. before reaching the "we'll be alright" crescendo with its catharsis & hope.

Clever.
Really, coming for Harry's lyrics complaining they are repetitive .. misses the point? shows that you've probs failed English?

He's not Shakespeare, but Harry knows his writing tools. He is really underrated as a songwriter.
And just because I think it probs need saying, I write for a living. If you want to have this discussion with me, I'm happy to take it on.
