- Amity used to sneak into Willow's house, while they watch Willow's dads work on the farm.

- However, when Amity's parents found out about it, they completely cut Amity off from Willow, and the two never interacted since.
- Amity is very sad about this, and she feels guilty that she didn't even inform her childhood friend.

- Moving on to the present, Amity's siblings had just returned from Spain, the Blights then celebrate a fiesta for their return.

- A few hours in, Luz didn’t feel like she was supposed to fit in. She was surrounded by a lot of mestizos and mestizas, and it felt like they were judging her everytime they looked at her.
- They were also gossiping about how Luz isn't a "real" mestiza.

- Due to this, she went out and explored the Blight’s mansion. She found a big beautiful garden just by the back of their mansion and decided to stay there until the fiesta ends.

“Binibini, gusto mo ng bibingka? Gawa ito ng aking ina, masarap ito kapag ay natikman.” Luz says.
(Translation: Miss, do you want a bibingka? My mother made this, and it tastes delicious.)

Amity’s first instinct is to act mean, so instead of trying to accept the food offered to her by Luz, she says, “At bakit ko iyan tatanggapin? Hindi mo ba ako kilala, o ang aking pamilya?”
(Translation: What made you think I would accept that? Don't you know me, or my family?)
Luz chuckles, “Hindi kita kilala, ngunit, ang alam ko lang ika’y napapagod sa pagdiriwang at sinubukan mong magtakas sa hardin. Parang ako. Hindi ba?”
(Translation: I don't know you, but I know that you're also tired of the party and tried to escape from it. Like me. Is it not?)
