Chandimal didn’t use a hashtag nor did he invite me but he had two Royal Birthday parties in a pandemic year. As your local pop culture connoisseur I‘ve picked my favs from the second party though I’m very concerned they didn’t social distance or wear glitzy masks. https://twitter.com/sachp/status/1157147652472967169
A disclaimer that this thread is not tongue in cheek. I’m actually super impressed by the attention to detail in some outfits and think it’s kinda fun that there’s glitz and glamour outside of Shyamalee Tudawe’s purview. Or maybe this is now featured on Hi! magazine?
2019 theme was brown royalty and 2020 is white royalty is the easiest way to describe the theme. 2018 was white royalty too but this year was that + performance enhancement drugs. Hans Christian Andersen meets Royal Ascot meets East India Company (both Dutch and British) vibes 😬
Madhavee Anthony won the whole thing this year too. Not as unique as last year’s outfit but much opulence and elegance. Loving the simple makeup, the bare neck, and all the rich velvet.
Amaya Adhikari was a close second. I looove this color on her with the soft makeup. Just wish that high neck was snipped off so that the earrings could have been properly showcased. We can’t have everything we want in one outfit Amaya. I’d know, I’ve tried :(
I don’t know who this is but I’m totes digging this outfit. He said fuck it and came in the 2019 theme and I’m here for it. Loving the dark blue (cobalt?), the pleats, and the buttons. The shoes should have been left at home. Same thing I said to Amaya earlier.
Birthday boy Chandimal. I saw internet outrage that he’s disrespecting the troops with this outfit but I think he’s just disrespecting his past outfits cos 2018 and 2019 can run circles around this. Gloves can be useful though, when it’s Covid and you’re throwing a huge bash.
His friend on the other hand is giving us all the camp I wanted in Chandimal’s. Please note the embroidery on the armband that says King. I dare you to be as satisfied with your looks as this guy looks with his.
My fav Piumie really dialed it down this year (see 2018 and 2019 for reference) but I have no complains. The color looks beautiful on her and the jewelry works. And no one rocks a soft lip like her. I’m into this monochromatic look.
Men’s looks were a lot more exciting this year and I thought this was excellent. I’d have kept the cuffs long and buttoned but other than that, this just works. I can’t find an exact reference point and that’s probably why it works.
Look at these excellent outfits, I live! Chandimal asked for Royal and they brought it. Crowns, capes, velvet, the works. Losing that cumberband would have totally elevated that look though. Can they hire me as a stylist already?
Who is this cos her outfit is all kinds of cute. I love the print, I love the dress and most of all I love the braid! Would I wear matching earrings? Probably not but probably cos I wouldn’t have pulled it off as she does.
Speaking of men putting effort into their outfits and costumes. I’m loving the colors, the collars, the embroidery and the embellishments. I have to ask though. Is that a beard weave or his actual beard? I’m impressed either way.
The spectrum of uncle fashion at the party. 💯 at both ends. I don’t even mind Ranjan’s v-neck, it seems very on brand.
Looove how Nadeesha Hemamali styled her outfit and I’d like that necklace please.
Am I missing some Royal fashion reference point with all this (p)leather? I’m impressed by anyone who wears it in this weather and looks this fresh but still a bit perplexed about it.
