Today, we are spotlighting remarkable Nigerian women who have made their mark in the political space and used their power and voices to advocate for women's rights and meaningful political participation in 🇳🇬

She was the Former Dep. Gov. of Plateau State & Former Min. of State for Science & Tech.

She has a political career spanning 44 years & highlighted by her strong commitment to women & children’s rights & community empowerment.

2019 Presidential Candidate, Former VP @WorldBankAfrica Division, Former Min. for Education , Former Min. for Solid Minerals & Co-founder of Transparency Intl.

She was instrumental in globally spotlighting the #BringBackOurGirls campaign.
3. Barr. Ebere Ifendu @IfenduEbere

Women’s Rights Activist, Mediator and President of @wipfng

Barr. Ifendu is one of the most resounding voices in the campaign for women’s equal representation in Nigerian Politics.
Through @wipfng , Barr. @IfenduEbere has raised awareness of the dearth of women in politics and initiated programs to strengthen young women’s capacity as political leaders.
4. Distinguished Senator @oluremitinubu

Senator for Lagos Central and President of the New Era Foundation.

5. Chief Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti

Political Leader, Suffragist & Educator (1900 – 1978).

Among her notable achievements, Chief Ransome-Kuti advocated for women’s rights to vote, women’s better representation in local governing bodies & an end to unfair taxes on market women.
6. Chief Margaret Ekpo

Political and Women’s Rights Activist, Social Mobiliser (1914 – 2006).

In 1949, Chief Ekpo famously mobilised women for a day of National mourning which raised international profile on the shooting of Coal Miners by colonialists.
7. Distinguished Senator ‘Biodun Olujimi

Senator for Ekiti South & former Broadcaster and Journalist.

She is the long-running sponsor of GEO Bill @nassnigeria which seeks to promote better inclusion of women in politics, women’s equal access to property & employment.
8. Ndi Kato @YarKafanchan

Convenor of the Dindari Foundation & Social Activist.

She is an influential voice of this generation,critiquing the shortfalls of legislation that reduce women’s access to political leadership & championing the rights of marginalized communities.
