As a former member of the CONIFA ExCo for 3 years, I can say categorically that the organisation has no insight to offer on the subject of being anti-racist. https://twitter.com/alansavunmasi_/status/1309919414775623680
Unless they want to talk about a player reporting racial abuse at the WFC 2018 and a credible witness being harassed along with anyone who wanted an open investigation.
Or a current member of the ExCo stating that racist comments are ‘often just banter on the football field’.
It’s very easy to crow about being anti-racist but the proof is in actions, not words. If a well-connected CONIFA member is accused of racism will it be given a full and proper investigation? I seriously doubt it now those of us who fought for that are gone.
If CONIFA was asking for help to do better on racism then I’d respect that, but professing expertise shows exactly the arrogance that means it will never improve.
There are many organisations doing important work in this space, @farenet or @kickitout to name but two. CONIFA should be listening, not talking.
