It's weird how it's become so poisonous in the US. In the UK & EU programmes like that were pulled after abuse & suicides. They also have terrible history, as I pointed out last year in the Speccie (Australian edition paywall shouldn't boot you out). https://www.spectator.com.au/2019/06/the-public-humiliation-diet/
