As much as some of the hand wringing over the new handball laws is overwrought (it's not "killing the game" is it? You're still watching it, aren't you?) I think we've lost sight of what law changes in football are supposed to be for.
Law changes are meant to be for the betterment of the game or "product." The back pass law, for example. The adaption of the offside law in the 1920s. Outlawing the tackle from behind so that skilful players weren't punished for being skilful
I think we've come to a situation now where laws are changed, not to make the game better, but to try to stop people from complaining so much because there is so much noise around refereeing decisions and, imo, that's the wrong motivation and it's doomed to failure.
