First impressions:
- Don't read this unless you've read the "Shadow and Bone" Trilogy and the "Six of Crows" Duology before!
- I've missed the Grisha-Verse, thank god I'm back
- The cover?? is so unbelievably pretty??

Predictions so far:
- we'll either have a second Ravkan civil war at our hands, or Nikolai will have to move heaven and hell to stop that from happening
- darkling?? returns?? maybe??
- Nina raising every background character of the walking dead lmao

I'm at around 200 pages and so far, we've had Nikolai's LITERAL nightterrors, a lot of political problems that I'm practically EATING UP (as much as real life politics suck, seeing them interpreted in a fantasy novel just Does Something to me) and possibly Nikolai/Zoya in Ravka
Meanwhile Nina has to bury Matthias and let me tell you, the sobbing I went through when that happened was worse than me crying over his actual death. Should that worry me? probably
Hanne being into sewing even though she's one of those women that like to fight is making me FEEL THINGS
YES girl go off about how it's a necessity especially for fighters, my gay heart appreciates you so much

I have had Isaak for one chapter and I would already kill for him, don't test me

LEONI IS THE GIRL JESPER'S MOTHER SAVED I'M GOING TO LOSE IT
"our first job is always to survive. I won't apologize for it."
This book is amazing in so many ways but I just KEEP going back to these glorious quotes because YES Nina, turn it up?!
If a woman has to play a role to survive, how can you even think of putting her down for it?

The way this book focuses on so many of its female characters, gives them the strength to be themselves while also not going the "hurdur, woman has to be STRONG strong to be independent" is honestly the most refreshing thing I've read about in a LONG time
"Finally something went wrong and I had nothing to do with it"
I realize this thread is evolving into either crying about the female characters and their complexity or Isaak and the way he is now my son, and honestly, I am fine with that
Look at him go please
