For this milestone, I invite you to genuinely ask me anything

Go for it, what do you have to lose?

And, in addition, for each 1 like = 1 opinion about anime I really, really love

Don't worry, I've got a lot of takes https://twitter.com/VecnanKrait/status/1311195870940065792?s=20
1. Howl's Moving Castle is, for me, the most charming movie of all time. The breakfast scene, the transformations. The development, the universe. It's so fantastical whimsy overwhelming. I love it, I love love love love it. If I have children itll be the first movie I show them.
2. Legend of the Galactic Heroes deserves many tweets and I may repeat below, but the level of investment in the characters, the thoughtfulness of its development

It is the closest any anime comes to true historical fiction As Literature. Berkeley deserves a class on LotGH
3. Dragon Ball Z

I sat over the living-room table after begging my mom to let me eat dinner while watching dbz

An Addict

I didn't know this show was asian, I didn't need to. It was transformational. It was really, really big. Its potency was messianic. Huge, incredible, loved
4. Mushishi is the weirdest show I've seen. It could never work in America, ever, ever

It is all environment, all ambience, all spirit, all master

It is a mystery and the solution is always balance, what show can ever give you that? I cannot sell you this show it is perfect
5. Attack on Titan is my brother's least favorite anime. If I bring it up he just puts his hand over his eyes. He and I agree about most things, so this always puzzled me, and it made me think more deeply about what this show is about

I think it's one of the all-time greats
6.I think that what I love about AoT is the same thing that he hates about it

The show is underlined with woe. It is a worldscape of stress and terror and existential crisis. If you do not buy into the characters' skin-in-the-game it comes off as over the top, campy, even cringe
7. If you Do buy into the possible emotions of these characters, AoT unfurls a story of incredible heartache, mystery, adventure, and friendship

And boy oh boy if you make it to season 4 there is some SERIOUS payoff, hoooly cow. This is an incredibly rewarding show
8. Your lie in April is a fun show about a few friends that are musicians and it will totally not break your heart. There is nothing sad about this show. This show is only about traumaless joy and comfort. It will not leave you teary on the floor hiccuping and verbally sobbing...
9. My main gripe with YLiA is the characters' mouths what is going on with the overbites?

It is a beautiful mastahpiece, if slow, even a slog (I get it! I'm sad now!)

Yet, even while guarded against it, no other book/movie/show touched me so deeply. One of my very few 10/10s
10. Hunter x Hunter is anime’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’. It’s incredible throughout but it really picks up in the end...

Truly epic, will make even your cold hearted mother a shonen-lover

Thinking about Gon and killua’s friendship is overwhelming. Gonna go have a quiet moment
11. Continuing the musical metaphor, 'Ohayo' by Satoshi Kon is 'Intro' by the XX

It is a story, it is a journey, it is a vibe, it is ONE MINUTE LONG

I don't really need to say more just watch it right now
12. Nichijou is THE best combination of charming and funny. This is the only anime that gets a hearty out-loud laugh from me every single episode

It is absurd, creative, wacky

Nichijou is pure joy and I giggled through the whole thing

it also created the gundere
13. Made in Abyss is a story about a girl that wants to be an explorer like her mom and she meets an interesting robot boy! There are lots of fuzzy friends and scary monsters oh no!

And then it gets...dark

I love shows that invert expectations, a real gem
14. The Promised Neverland

I really want to tell you about this show but it would be, in some small way, robbing you

Don't even watch the trailer, just start the first episode and see what you think
15. Roger Ebert once wrote that Grave of the Fireflies "belongs on any list of the greatest war films ever made"

It is one of the pillars that supports the dignity of the medium. It will help you destroy any idea of anime being "like american cartoons"

heartwrenching
16. Of course I love one punch man. You watch that OP and then watch something else? No. You sit down and you watch one punch man, you watch all of it, and then you tell your friends to watch it, and they tell their friends, and that's why you already watched one punch man
17. When I wrote the Mushishi being weird I forgot about Sarazanmai

Sarazanmai is about three friends that turn into frogs and fight enemies by invading their butts. It is emotional and vulnerable and confusing and somehow very deep

yes I am serious https://twitter.com/VecnanKrait/status/1311204822763307011
18. Monogatari, oh Monogatari. So much can be said for Monogatari.

It should never be anyone's first anime. Or tenth. It is Esoteric the Anime. Its taste is worthy of criticism for good and for bad. Underneath all the 'fan service' (eesh) this is an incredibly smart show
19. IMO the Crown Jewel of this insane fucking show are the three movies known as Kizumonogatari

Tatsuya Oishi, after making the first series (Bake-) in '09-'10 announced Kizumonogatari he worked on it until release in '16-'17. During this time the ENTIRE SERIES had aired (almos
20. Kizumonogatari is SO entertaining in-part because they are so clearly inspired by that first season, they shine with love and creativity. While the original show cut its own groove, years later, these movies came out of the bag Absolutely Fresh. They are so, so enjoyable
21. Now you're a fucking vet. You grew up on Toonami and [AS]. You own some manga probably. You know all this season's new shows. Then you hear that the great Masaaki Yuasa of Tatami and PingPong fame is coming out with a new show! It is called Devilman Crybaby...

Huh?
22. Devilman Crybaby is a

Jeez it's, uh. It's rough, man. It's gory and demonic and dripping with sex juices. This is the show to melt your face off

Masterfully done, one of the best remakes ever. Goddamn what a ride.

23. Setting the highest of bars for time-travel anime (and hoo-boy is there a lot of time travel anime, wow) Steins;gate is one of those shows that makes it characters feel like they're your twitter mutuals

It introduces existential concepts with nuance, and it's plain fun
