1. Howl's Moving Castle is, for me, the most charming movie of all time. The breakfast scene, the transformations. The development, the universe. It's so fantastical whimsy overwhelming. I love it, I love love love love it. If I have children itll be the first movie I show them.

2. Legend of the Galactic Heroes deserves many tweets and I may repeat below, but the level of investment in the characters, the thoughtfulness of its development

I didn't know this show was asian, I didn't need to. It was transformational. It was really, really big. Its potency was messianic. Huge, incredible, loved

4. Mushishi is the weirdest show I've seen. It could never work in America, ever, ever

It is all environment, all ambience, all spirit, all master

It is a mystery and the solution is always balance, what show can ever give you that? I cannot sell you this show it is perfect

5. Attack on Titan is my brother's least favorite anime. If I bring it up he just puts his hand over his eyes. He and I agree about most things, so this always puzzled me, and it made me think more deeply about what this show is about

The show is underlined with woe. It is a worldscape of stress and terror and existential crisis. If you do not buy into the characters' skin-in-the-game it comes off as over the top, campy, even cringe

7. If you Do buy into the possible emotions of these characters, AoT unfurls a story of incredible heartache, mystery, adventure, and friendship

And boy oh boy if you make it to season 4 there is some SERIOUS payoff, hoooly cow. This is an incredibly rewarding show

It is a beautiful mastahpiece, if slow, even a slog (I get it! I'm sad now!)

It should never be anyone's first anime. Or tenth. It is Esoteric the Anime. Its taste is worthy of criticism for good and for bad. Underneath all the 'fan service' (eesh) this is an incredibly smart show
