Everyone and their late grandmother knows Trump is a deranged piece of shit. There was nothing out of this debate that we haven& #39;t seen from this "orange" cockroach for the last four years. What& #39;s grinding my gears is STILL seeing an excess of all this false equivalency garbage.
Can we stop with this absolutism bullshit? Speaking as a man who supported and campaigned for Sanders, just because Biden isn& #39;t him doesn& #39;t automatically mean he& #39;s just the lesser of two evils. I know that debate was hard to stomach but did you listen to what Biden was saying?
Two trillion dollars to combat climate change would be the most aggressive climate change reform policy any president has pursued. He also proposed getting back into the Paris Climate Accords and a push for renewable energy, which is where our planet is heading anyway.
In the middle of a global pandemic, he proposes the bare basic task of listening to health experts and pushing for a country-wide mask mandate, because all the experts have told us, four or five weeks of everyone in masks, social distancing and all that jazz, and we got this.
He proposed a specific plan for police reform that makes sense. Fund psychiatric and mental health experts to work on de-escalation and prevent needless shootings. Community outreach so cops know the ins and outs of the cities & people whom they& #39;re supposed to be protecting.
Universal Healthcare is the only direction that makes sense for healthcare, but I& #39;d rather see more people able to afford health coverage than see tens of millions lose it if Trump is reelected and uses his 6-3 Supreme Court majority to kill ACA dead and replace it with nothing.
Biden is no Bernie Sanders, and he& #39;s no progressive, that much is painfully obvious. But I defy anyone to look at the above and tell me with a straight face that any of what Biden proposed wasn& #39;t a good proposal? You might say, "it& #39;s not enough," but everything takes babysteps.
We need to stop with this, "Oh my God, THIS is the best we got" bullshit, folks. Full stop. It& #39;s a lazy, half-ass statement people who don& #39;t bother actually doing their homework use to justify not voting. Sorry, folks, but opting out does not exist in a two party system.
I& #39;ve said it a billion times and I& #39;ll say it a billion times more. Any vote that isn& #39;t for the primary challenger of a presidential election is a passive vote for the incumbent. Write-in& #39;s, third party, non-votes, none of these will have the numbers to be viable options.
And with RBG& #39;s passing, if Trump steals this election, then forget fighting for M4A, a Green New Deal or any actual progressive policies. We& #39;ll be fighting to re-obtain basic rights owed to every citizen again. Barrett herself said that her role is to "create a kingdom of God."
That is what "absolutism" gets you when you can& #39;t accept that you won& #39;t get exactly what you want with one candidate. These people are as dangerous as right wingers can possibly get. You only have one right choice this election. I& #39;m sorry, but that& #39;s how our current system is.
We all need to vote. We need to get Trump and his cronies the hell out of office and never allow monsters like them to ever hold power in office ever again. Our countries future, and the future for generations to come will hinge on your vote. Don& #39;t let that power go to waste.
