so Here is a cat. a circle for the general head shape, outlined the ears which end at eye level so i think of that as a reference point. they do not sit squarely on Top of the cat& #39;s head
so on the Left there& #39;s that exact same circle/ear outline on a human head, unscaled/unadjusted for the placement of the eye line. however on the Right is what u often see with catboys
there are Problems with this bc 1) the placement doesn& #39;t really match up? it wouldnt make sense for an ear canal to start on the top of the skull and 2) it raises the question of "do they also have human ears?? does that make any sense?? if they Dont then what& #39;s going on there??"
so on the left i marked the most accurate (to a cat) attachment points in blue without adjusting anything else, and on the right i scaled/rotated the same ear outlines to fit
SO the conclusion that we can reach here, imo: the ears don& #39;t (if using the same attachment points) actually reach where the human ears Should be. however they are so close that i dont think it would look wrong for there to Not be human ears present
again this is all opinions, catboys arent exactly a science BUT going based off of this their ears should be a lot more angled than they are on a cat. also: the ear canal would def have to be at a different angle. UNLESS: i am about to pose another diagram. wait
what if INSTEAD to solve the ear canal issue (so basically a second possibility here) the attachment point was actually where the human ear connects to the head? so again i labeled the possible attachment points (left) and then scaled (right). BIG OL EARS
now i personally think this would be cute but i also realize it may look kind of silly to the Average Catboy Enthusiast and that is valid. SO to review:
option 1 (lower attachment at eye level): more anatomically sound than "ears on top of skull" but not ideal, technically. still raises questions, ie "do they also have human ears?" "where do the ear canals start?"
option 2 (lower attachment where human ears attach): most anatomically sound, but they also probably look a little silly. which could be cute!! but most people probably will not buy into it. placement makes sense, solves the "do they have human ears" question
ofc there are many in-betweens!! they could also attach somewhere in the middle which would mean just a slightly raised ear canal but would decrease the ear size and make them more palatable to the average catboy fan lol. a couple more options
okay i THINK that is. all i have to say on this topic. probably. but yeah thats my take on Catboy Ears, ofc there is no right or wrong way to portray them because. catboys unfortunately do not exist BUT!! i think it& #39;s possible to find a compromise between +
anatomy and appearance, and also solve some of the Catboy Questions like "so what fucking ears do they hear from?" which i firmly believe is their cat ears (ideally the only ears they have! again, my headcanon) because the thought of the cat ears having no ear canal Unsettles me

SO a few options with the top attachment point adjusted. i also drew in the outside line of the ear bc i realized it may not have been clear in previous diagrams. honestly looking at these (second one in particular) these might be some of our most viable options yet
this maybe loses some of the Cute Perky Catboy Ear charm but its a good compromise between size, placement, and accurate anatomical sense
other option that joce mentioned: bringing Just the bottoms of the ears down. which i think works anatomically for sure, but also requires tampering with the Iconic Cat Ear Shape
okay i THINK. that’s it. again there are endless options!! u can do whatever you want with catboy anatomy!! i just wanted to provide some Options to contemplate because for some reason this is a very important matter to me. i hope u have Enjoyed this thread bc i know i have!!!
