While I would like to keep a hold on my overall analysis on Pant till DC play in Sharjah, he is surely taking a bit more time than he used to take before going for an all out attack. It can be due to lack of game time (played just 2 tests since Dec 2019) or due to the pitches.

He is the only one in the DC team to have played more than 20 balls in all the 3 innings. Highest run scorer for DC (96 runs in 3 matches). His SR's have been 106, 148, 103 resp. Match SR for all 3 games were 130,127.5,128.75 resp. He has been above the normalized SR only once

Even yday while his SR was best among the players who batted for more than 20 balls in DC (Dhawan & Iyer are other two), His S/R in the 1st 10 balls was just 50 when the equation needed DC to go at 12 rpo. His S/R in 1st 2 games for the first 10 balls were 90, & 100.

While I have not calculated the SR in the 1st 10 balls for all the other batters (both teams) in the games that DC had played. But as per my initial observations, the only batter to have good SR in the first 10 balls has been Stoinis.

So it does look like Pant has tonned down his aggressive approach in the 1st 10 balls and it is also confirmed that DC has been on the receiving end for all the tough pitches in the tournament & therefore is it sensible to take time on such pitches and dig a hole?(for batters).

While latter part is debatable since we have seen him bat well against CSK when he had time to cash in. Also, it will be interesting to see how will he bats in Sharjah where boundaries are small (despite the used pitches) whether or not he will play in his shell.

In either case (tonned or not), there is something different about Pant this time. He looks keen on making this IPL count, looks calmer at the crease but we may have lost the carefree T20 built Pant in the process of the change. #DCvSRH @DelhiCapitals @deep_extracover
