So, some truly HORRIFIC, cruel, and unneighborly shit went down in my neighborhood today.
It has to do with some folks who lost their child to suicide this year, and their neighbor, who put up a "Halloween decoration" depicting their child's method of death.

I was scrolling through FB this afternoon and happened upon this post:

No less than five people went and asked this woman to remove the ādecoration.ā (Unclear if she knew about the loss in advance, but not sure it matters.) Anyway, she told the advocates that she was āannoyed by liberals like [them] repressing [her] culture.ā

At some point, as I'd sorta guessed, the person who made the post said he was the child's father.
His wife then comes in with some context:

The neighborhood is ready to tear this whole house down. Clearly. Obviously.
I went on a date (!) with Fel and was away for a couple of hours. When I returned, I learned the ādecorationā had been removed, but the woman left a letter for the family who lost their child:
I mean. Just. Iām certain this woman is a demon. I just canāt.
I made Fel drive me by the house. It was gone, but it was raining, and the letter makes it seem like she has zero interest in removal.
In the meantime, an event is set up and media gets contacted.

Apparently, per a DM I got from the mom, the woman did try and put the ādecorationā back up, but was met by a news crew. Oopsie! (Get it, @NBCPhiladelphia!)

Anyway, all of this to make an ask: Iād like to put a package together for this family.
I would LOVE letters from other loss survivors. I would LOVE letters from folks with lived experience and people who just want to send a little encouragementāin the form of notes or gift cards or, I don't know, whatever else feels right. Is anyone down to contribute?
