“Democracy is the government of the people, by the people, for the people.” Upon reading this quote from Abraham Lincoln, I thought of how different it would be if I lived in a society with no democracy.
You see, our society have been performing this ideology. Without experiencing its purpose of ensuring that all of society’s voice is heard, I think it will be hard for me to deal with the absence of it.
Hence, I choose Democracy as my favorite ideology because its inital objective to promote equality and abolish social injustice made a strong impression on me.
Democracy sees everyone with no standards. It is a society that values providing equal opportunity for all. Within democracy, people can enjoy their rights regardless of their gender, religion, social status or property.
And through equality, social injustice will be eliminated. Democracy guanrantees that anyone can exercise their freedoms in a political aspect therefore injustice among its members wouldn’t be evident.
Additionally, I am fond of how democracy puts the poor and unprivileged as its top priority. The ideas of democracy seems to always aim on how this group will benefit.
Democracy minimizes the power of the higher ups and protects the rights of minorities knowing that the ones with the power tend to oppress those who doesn’t have it. Every person has the power to influence the decision-making and turn it into their own benefit.
As someone who shares the same sentiments to its ideas, I personally think it sums up how everyone should be treated.
Prioritizing the well-being of its people is what matters the most. I believe that for a society to succeed, the people should be the center of everything. On that note, it should do anything for the common good and benefit of everyone.
All in all, Democracy is one of the fairest systems out there. It does not only aim to fulfill the needs but also provides freedom and equal rights.
