The clinic has long argued it has done what it can to help neighboring communities plagued by problems that go far beyond health and has pointed to the broader economic benefits it brought to the city.
It also has benefited from government funding for research, and it got almost $200 million in federal coronavirus relief, despite having more than $1.5 billion in cash on hand and more than $10.5 billion in investments.
