Ireland is supposed to be a shining beacon of progress these days...

but in fact, we have sleepwalked into a nightmare.

As we send out our first tweet to the world, our thoughts go to the female inmates of Limerick Prison.

If no one else will speak for them, we will.

A violent male-bodied person with a stated intention to kill & rape women has just been transferred to the Female Estate because they had a Gender Recognition Certificate. https://www.thejournal.ie/limerick-court-case-teenager-5217824-Sep2020/

We condemn in the strongest possible terms what is nothing less than State-sanctioned torture of the most vulnerable women in society, 79% of whom are typically survivors of Child Sexual Abuse, Domestic Violence and Rape.

Why are there two (that we know of) fully intact, extremely dangerous males, in the women's wing of Limerick Prison?

Why are the public not aware?

How has this been allowed to happen again?

This is the horrific fallout of the Gender Recognition Act which was enacted without any public awareness, debate or consultation.

To this day, the public has no idea that all medical gatekeeping & safeguarding has been dismantled.

They have no idea that any man who says he is a woman can fill out a form & their legal documents, including their Birth Cert, are changed.
Without the need for any surgery or hormones.

Irish Women have been failed.

Society has been re-ordered without our consent.

We endure language that erases us & laws that fail to protect us. Female prisoners should NOT be exposed to predatory males.

We are not 'anyone with a cervix' as @HSELive tell us.

We are women. We will not be erased in language or in law.
