Attitudes and behaviors can be racist or sexist or *-phobic. 2/short thread

It's no revelation to observe that *people* cannot leave those attitudes and behaviors behind if we accuse the person themselves of being a racist, a sexist, or a *-phobe. 3/short thread

Attacking the identity or the ego of a person results only in anger, defensiveness, and/or conflict. People dig in. We can call it fragility if we want, but it just doesn't work. 4/short thread

Everybody knows this. Every wisdom tradition teaches this. So here it is: only spirit, love, and genuine friendship can change people's hearts. 5/short thread

But meanwhile!... we need to defend members of our communities from harm caused by racist, sexist, and *-phobic behaviors and systems. 6/short thread

Some day, by some future grace, the innate oneness of humanity will be self-evident and we will be rid of these diseases of the soul. Meanwhile, let's work on this together. /end thread
