Already getting reports of D.C. voters having received their mail ballots, which are being sent to all registered voters. This first mailing is the big one, but there are two other mailings planned. If you don't have a mail ballot by Oct. 21, expect to vote in person.
And the reports have proven to be true... my wife just got her D.C. ballot in the mail. Comes with instructions and an “I Voted” sticker, a ballot, a secrecy sleeve, and the outer envelope the voter has to sign.
And since I have seen the question asked: Election officials tell me that a voter just has to slide their ballot into the secrecy sleeve, and that’s placed into the outer envelope. (The holes in the sleeve and envelope don’t have to line up.)
In short, DO NOT try and creatively fold the ballot in extra ways to neatly fit it into the secrecy sleeve. It’s supposed to poke out slightly. And use the secrecy sleeve! It’s important, and sounds cool too.
