So this is crazy. Was alerted to this video of Charles Barkley being interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel recently and check out that poster behind Sir Charles: https://youtu.be/_y6RPvnSuNw ">https://youtu.be/_y6RPvnSu...
Here& #39;s a screen shot of it. That& #39;s my work! I did that poster of Barkley years ago for his 40th birthday on his TNT show, Listen Up!
I designed and directed the animated opening to Listen Up! - a short-lived show on TNT that basically was like a warm-up to Inside the NBA with Ernie Johnson. Here& #39;s a promo shot:
Before I get to the opening, here& #39;s some model sheets of Barkley. For the record, it took me a LOT of hours to get his look right. At the time, I was going for a very stylized, blocky look that was derived from my graffiti stuff I was doing at the time. Here& #39;s some Charles heads:
Charles Barkley arms and hands! Lots of hands, lol. Any chance I got to draw hands, I& #39;d do it:
Here& #39;s the Listen Up! opening, produced at @PrimalScreen - directed by me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7MpPixp4U8">https://www.youtube.com/watch...
It& #39;s rare to get perks in animation, but as luck would have it, I was able to visit the set where they shot the show (since TNT was based out of Atlanta). Me, the background designer, and my brother-in-law got to meet Barkley and chat w/him beforehand. This was 2003.
During taping of the episode, Barkley was presented with a huge birthday cake made entirely of Twinkies, as well as the framed poster I created specifically for him (shown at the beginning of this thread). It& #39;s pretty wild to think that he still has my artwork up on his wall.
