Never in my wildest dreams, did I think I would be arrested for capital murder. I spent 30 years on Alabama death row for a crime I didn’t commit.

It took Bryan Stevenson, God's best lawyer, 16 years to win my freedom.

The system is not broken.

It is running exactly the way it was designed to work.

It's not designed for people like me.

I opened a book club on death row. I know the power of books and imagination. I got a Ku Klux Klan member to read James Baldwin's “Go Tell It on the Mountain." It changed his views on race.

I still want to believe the best in 'man.'

Every morning, I would wake up and say, "Good morning, death row."

Someone would ask, "What's so good about death row?"

Well, I wanted every moment we woke up to have something to be thankful for.

We were still alive.

The Equal Justice Initiative is committed to ending "mass incarceration" and fighting for those who can't fight for themselves. Had it not been for @eji_org, I wouldn't be here. I did not pay one dime.

I want to thank everyone for donating to @eji_org.

You can't change anything if you don't have hope. You can't change if you don't put that hope in a ballot box.

Don't let the tears give you the impression that I'm weak. I'm not.

Everyday, I try to share my story with somebody to uplift them, to let them know this world can be cruel.

You can decide if you want to be cruel or a good person.
