During the debate, watch out for any claims from candidates that trigger a strong emotional reaction. That’s a sign
that what they’re saying could contain misinformation.

If you’re following along on social media, be cautious of sound bites
and clips from the debate that go viral. They could be taken out of context and be misleading, especially if they were cut and shared by the candidates.

If you REALLY want to be safe, you can always consult the debate’s transcripts the day after to get all the context you need. @Debates keeps copies of unofficial debate transcripts on their website. https://www.debates.org/voter-education/debate-transcripts/
Before sharing debate reactions and memes online, look to see who is sharing the information. What are their credentials? Do they have a bias? If you don’t verify the information, you could be spreading misinformation. #ThinkBeforeYouShare
Keep in mind that the candidates are trying to persuade you during a debate. ALWAYS take what they say with a grain of salt
and look to trustworthy sources to get the facts. #Election2020
