#GreerGarson was born on Sept. 29, 1904 in #London. Her birth name was Eileen Evelyn (named after Aunt Evelyn) Greer (her mother's maiden name) Garson. Her mother’s family claimed kinship to famed Scottish folk hero Rob Roy MacGregor.

On a talent search that would include #HedyLamarr, #MGM studio head #LouisBMayer saw #GreerGarson in #London performing in the play "Old Music." He was so impressed by her acting that he signed her to a seven-year contract.

Although her contract began in 1937, #GreerGarson didn’t begin shooting her first film until late 1938. Interestingly her first and last films under contract to #MGM involved the teaching profession – #GoodbyeMrChips and #HerTwelveMen.

In 1949, #GreerGarson married her third husband Elijah E. "Buddy" Fogelson. Together they owned and operated a ranch near #SantaFeNM where a special breed of shorthorn cattle named Greers was developed.
