Let's chat about how you can use @Tableau, the mysterious software I mentioned that requires no coding or tech knowledge but can position you to command salaries upwards of $150,000 / year, or upwards of $70 / hr.

🧵 Thread (go ahead and bookmark this one now 😌)
Here's the landscape: Businesses have access to more data than ever before, from financial data to supply chain data to CRM data to social media data.
A 2019 IBM study found that 82 percent of C-Suite leaders strongly believe data helps create a strategic advantage in strengthening their level of customer trust and bottom lines.

Basically, data is f*cking important.
Here's the problem: Companies want to leverage data to make data-driven business decisions, but most non-technical employees are not comfortable accessing or using data.
Furthermore, many data scientists are engineers who don't understand (1) business and (2) how to make data digestible for non-data scientists (in my experience).
So, companies are stuck with:
(1) data people who are incapable of making business decisions
(2) business people who are incapable of making data-driven decisions

Which means that — no data-driven business decisions are being made.
And that's the opportunity for you: There is demand across industries (e.g., retail, government) and functions (e.g., finance, sales/marketing) for people who can assemble and leverage data to make business decisions.

Here's where Tableau enters the chat. @Tableau is a business intelligence software that can "help anyone see and understand their data."

At its core, Tableau is a drag-and-drop data visualization tool that enables regular people to analyze data quickly via graphs + dashboards.
Note: There are other data visualization tools like Microsoft PowerBI and Looker.

Let me show you Tableau at work.

Imagine you work at @Airbnb. @Airbnb found that guests are searching for entire homes and apartments in the wake of coronavirus and concerns about shared spaces.
(I'm using this Airbnb dataset with information about 30,000+ NYC listings: https://public.tableau.com/s/resources?qt-overview_resources=1#qt-overview_resources.)

The CEO asks you: "what's the average price of an entire apartment versus a private room in NYC?"
In the old days, you'd try to analyze a spreadsheet that looks like this:
With Tableau, it's as simple as this:
Naturally, seeing the data presented so digestibly elicits more questions from the CEO. "Is this being driven by a particular borough?" He asks. In seconds, you have an answer:
"Booking a Staten Island home is pricier than Manhattan? That's interesting. What percentage of revenue from entire homes did Staten Island drive?"

(I can only add two videos in a thread, but achieving this is just as simple as dragging and dropping like in the above examples).
"Wow, that's nothing. What areas are driving revenue among entire home bookings then?"

(I can only add two videos in a thread, but achieving this is just as simple as dragging and dropping like in the above examples with Tableau's built-in map functionalities).
"Okay, this is helpful. I want to see this information daily." He concludes.

In the old days, you'd pull this data manually each day. With Tableau, you can create interactive, easy-to-use dashboards in minutes by dragging and dropping (e.g., I created this in minutes):
This is the power of @Tableau, people.

I just analyzed 30,000 entries of data in seconds and created an interactive dashboard (that would ideally refresh automatically) for the CEO to analyze booking trends in NYC on the fly.
This is why organizations are willing to pay top dollar for people who can present data efficiently.

You are empowering everyone in your organization to make data-driven business decisions.

This is why @Tableau is a skill that I recommend you learn regardless of your function.
Being able to incorporate the above into your daily workflow regardless of function can add five figures to your salary easily.

P.S. Don't scold me for using price and revenue interchangeably. I recognize they are not interchangeable.

P.P.S. I have no affiliation with @Tableau whatsoever.
