2) I've been summarizing my solutions as: Elect Biden. Flip the Senate. Fix what's Broken.

3) Worried about lifetime appointed judges? Expand the courts. This is an easy fix. It is fully legal and has lots of precedent in US History. The GOP will throw tantrums and pundits will play "both sides," so teach Democrats to ignore that. Just fix it.

4) Worried about the endless devotion of Trump cultists? Rebuild voting rights so Republicans and Democrats alike have to take power by persuading a majority that they have the best ideas. The cult survives because the GOP benefits by having a 40% white minority in an info bubble

5) Climate change, as many of you raised. The thing about climate change is that we have the technology to ameliorate its impacts /right now/. It's massive in scale in its threats, but we have the tech right now. We can't roll back time, but we can fix so much.

6) Tax codes can be rewritten. Corrupt officials punished. People thieving from the public purse can be fined, their assets liquidated, from the Trumps on down. The Senate expanded. DHS disbanded and its functions either erased or restored to pre 9/11 departments. And on and on.

7) None of these solutions require rewriting the constitution. Lots will require eliminating the filibuster. All will require electing Biden, flipping the senate, and leading democratic officials to convince them to be bold.

That's gonna be hard.

8) I am not a pollyanna. Democrats might lose all the key elections. Democrats might win but be too cowardly. Most likely, I think, Democrats win and take half measures and have even them rolled back by the right-wing courts and nothing improves. I'm a cynic about humans.

9) But the solutions exist. We know how to beat Covid, ameliorate climate change, restore democracy, fight inequality. The solutions exist. And that's how I get out of bed in the morning and start writing.
