I watched this study happen in real life growing up in East County, as our neighbors moved away. My high school went from 55% POC when I graduated in 2005 to 85% POC today. White flight is still a thing even here in liberal MoCo—
so when white people say to me “we love diversity but” or “my neighbor is Black” or “my school/neighborhood is already diverse”

what I hear is a chair pushing away from the dinner table: we’ve had our fill, thank you, couldn’t eat another bite
