#NationalInclusionWeek2020 day 2:

A lot people tend to struggle with the concept of “bring your whole self to work” as that can be a very fine line to balance, as most us of tend to feel that who we are in and out of work are completely different people.
(cont.) This therefore often leads us to feel that we can only be one or the other, consequently meaning we are not being authentic in bringing our whole-selves to work

Some of the common myths around this are: ⬇️👇
(cont.)

-“I’m a different person at work and at home”
-“Information could be used against me if I open up and share more”
-“In my team we have ‘real work’ to do, therefore there is no time to spend on being authentic and sharing with each other”
(cont.) In dispelling these myths & bringing your whole self, this will ultimately allow you to contribute in your own distinctive way, be more self-aware of your strengths/limitations & allow you to be YOU and to be fear free in looking incompetent in your work environment.
(last.) Ultimately, if everyone brings their full authentic-selves to work this will help in promoting inclusion and create a culture whereby everyone feels valued, which in turn would help in creating productivity!
