For us from Eastern Europe and in general for the people from the Global South who do not speak Russian or Spanish getting a job in an international organisation is almost impossible. 1/4
To be even considered for a mid-career senior position, you need to already have experience in an international org. But, you cannot be considered for an entry-level post as well, because we do not have a working visa and the org do not provide sponsorship for these posts. 2/4
In that logic, we end up with 'experts' on Western Balkans or India, or anywhere, that have never stepped a foot in these regions let alone to fully understand the context. Who, by the way, to learn and better understand things on the ground, reach out to us to draft briefs...3/4
...and to explain things, and basically to give our knowledge for free to them, so they can "support us" properly.

Not to mention that many of these organisations are not at all shy to talk about how decolonial their programs are. #FoodForThought 4/4
