My worry: this order is secretly applauded by many white officers, who felt so threatened by diversity training. This discomfort was actually good- designed to make u open your eyes. Trump again brings out the worst in Americans. He taps into the dark part of the soul.

My request to those in govt that actually applauded Trumps move: talk to your minority employees and colleagues today. Their grievances are very real and legitimate. Diversity training was a small step forward. Cannot let this move erase progress and stop required conversations.

And yes, I did take a version of this training. And it was uncomfortable. I didn’t agree with all of it...But ultimately it made me, in charge of thousands of agency officers, better understand how we need to rethink our approach to diversity in the workforce. Status quo unsat.
