/x I don& #39;t sleep well and saw this last night and it didn& #39;t help. It both angered and upset me as this isn& #39;t honesty. Bear with me for a brief and rare thread and please try to take it in without preconception as it& #39;s important. https://twitter.com/rtenews/status/1310637555285712896">https://twitter.com/rtenews/s...
/x I& #39;m so fed up of the similar tactics of the far right and far left on this who have blocked vital conversation with abuse. If you dare talk about Covid as serious one flank attack with it being a conspiracy. Just as bad though is that if you dare talk about the need for an
/x integrated plan that keeps so many safe from other illness, mental health issues, financial woe and so on, the other side call you a monster and portray you as wanting to kill people. This has stopped the scrutiny, helped along by a lot of my industry I& #39;m ashamed to say.
/x I& #39;d have got a lot more work and be in a better place if I& #39;d done as most have and played the government game and maybe I got into this industry for the wrong reason. But I see it as vital to be truthful, to ask questions, to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.
/x Glynn above, sold to people as honesty and caring, and reported as truth isn& #39;t. "I don& #39;t think we& #39;re doomed," he says but another six months of this and many, just not his ilk, are. He adds, "The vast majority of our society is open?" Maybe where he goes?
/x "Our hospitals are open," he also says? To whom? Across the summer an average of one in five was out of work, with 360,000 on miniscule assistance at last count including 38 per cent of youth not allowed to earn a living. Their support is being cut while government
/x and some civil servants go the other way and hire more and more advisors on huge money, while denying more than a one per cent increase to minimum wage "heroes". So far €35bn has been borrowed, if this goes on as now admitted we could be looking at €100bn if not more.
/x Defenders say there& #39;s no interest rate but never mention who pays back the nominal amount as that& #39;s over €30,000 for every person of working age. Think about the tax hikes, service slashes and years of austerity coming.
/x There are 50,000 people waiting on treatments, including 5,000 children, many seeing illnesses grow and worsen but who are told this is Covid country. Screenings have been paused and a wave of other brutal disease is on the way. Talk to those in mental health charities and
/x they& #39;ll tell you it& #39;s already at breaking point in a country with far too much suicide already. It& #39;s not just the six months Glynn says, but the years of hardship after. And this is created by zero plan. A whack-a-mole strategy. You may not like Sweden& #39;s roadmap but
/x they have one. We& #39;ve had six months to prepare for winter, flattened the curve, were told 10 more days, 10 more days, now six more months. Testing is key to getting on with it yet it& #39;s been lies all along. Contact tracing is key but has failed. ICU capacity is the sword
/12 held over but where& #39;s the increase in all that time after all that money. Covid is serious, causes much tragedy, there needs to be sense. There& #39;s none of it here and it& #39;s going to mean a far greater tragedy around those that don& #39;t get it, and for many years after it& #39;s gone.
