A fun challenge/exercise for college professors and HS teachers out there.

Whether you're in math, stats, science, or govt. this is germane to your field!

Take a poll of your class (yes this poll is a census, but play along - it's a poll with a 0 margin of error 😁)...
...2/x

If possible, make the poll anonymous (e.g. not by a show of hands)

Tell them: this is a poll regarding your opinion. There are three options, "yes, no, and not sure."

The question:

"Do you believe the polls were inaccurate in the 2016 Presidential Election?"

My guess is that more ppl will say "yes" (that the polls were inaccurate) than not

Possibly a lot of unsures (I really don't know what to expect though)

And that's okay! That's why we take polls, right?

After the poll, have a discussion about what polls do, why take polls

Then, have them read a selection from this thread. I recommend 1-7 and 13-20. ~5 minutes of reading

Feel free to copy-paste into a word doc or pdf to keep only relevant stuff

Fun part of this (which I'll get to) isn't to change minds re: 2016 polls https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1304668059584651265.html
