At #UNGA75 today Heads of State & Government will debate financing options for the #COVID19 recovery

In this #ODIbite @SumaChakrabarti and I reflect on progress in the financing for development agenda & options to take it forward (including the role of MDBs)

My 4 main points https://twitter.com/ODIdev/status/1309448817775767553
1/4 Even well before the COVID-19 pandemic, gaps were already growing between the ambitions of the financing for development agenda and the realities of its implementation
2/4 The recovery from the COVID-19 crisis offers a potential opportunity to galvanise the agenda around donor commitments. The COVID-19 pandemic will be addressed only if it is addressed everywhere
3/4 Channelling resources via MDBs is good investment (compared with bilateral aid): e.g. value for money, leveraging of other sources, preferred by recipient country governments, well-placed to support global public goods, less fragmented
4/4 We are not that far away from the 20th anniversary of the 1st FfD Conference in Monterrey in 2002. If we "course-correct" the implementation of the Financing for Development Agenda now, we will have enough time to get closer to the vision of the SDGs in 2030.
