Summary 1/10
We gauged Aussie attitudes to three tracking technologies:
- Mandatory Telecommunication Network Tracking
- A Voluntary Government App
- Apple & Googles Bluetooth Exposure Notification System
And compared these to usage & attitudes towards COVIDSafe after it& #39;s launch.

We collected 4 Representative Samples in April, May & June 2020 & found that the perceived Concern & Risk regarding COVID-19 decreased w/ active cases.
However, Concern for others remained stable over time (Fig: ordinal regression + Bayesian 95% credible intervals).

As cases decreased, public perception& #39;s about their benefits also decreased (compare COVIDSafe in yellow to the & #39;Government App& #39; in light blue).

4/10
- TRUST in Intentions & Data PRIVACY was higher for Gov Tech vs Apple/Google Tech.
- Perceived RISK was low for COVIDSafe & perceived data CONTROL was relatively high.
- Apple & Google were perceived as collecting more UNNECESSARY data than Gov Tech.

5/10
Even with varying risks & benefits, public acceptance was high for all technologies.
However, COVIDSafe usage was much lower than predicted by the Gov App.
Also, acceptance & intentions to download increased w/ additional privacy measures (e.g., a 6-month Sunset clause).

Perceptions of COVIDSafe were divided between users & non-users, who were:
- Less likely to understand COVIDSafe tech (see fig)
- Mostly concerned over data privacy, security, Gov surveillance & battery use.
- 33% that will never download the app "didn& #39;t need convincing".

COVIDsafe users (44%) downloaded the app within 1st week of launch (86%) to return to normal activities & safeguard their own/other& #39;s health.
89% used COVIDSafe effectively. 94% would upload contact data if infected.
Most P& #39;s yet to DL were still weighing the pros & cons.

Policy Maker& #39;s Summary
1) COVID-19 concern for others is critical to acceptance
2) Indecisive P& #39;s need to be targeted w/ info about Tech privacy measures.
3) Tech type < important than Tech Privacy.
4) Many non-users decided this without information due to privacy concerns.
