BBC Breakfast report on the PlayStation 25th anniversary this morning - instead of assessing the cultural impact of the machine we get the same old references to violence and how much money the industry makes. Will TV news move beyond this shallow, generalist tone in my lifetime?
Imagine if, *every single time* BBC Breakfast ran a piece on films, it spent three quarters of the report attempting to encapsulate the entire history of the medium, as well as box office statistics and early controversies. It& #39;s so tiring. This industry is 50 years old : (
Anyway sorry, it doesn& #39;t matter in the wider scheme of things. But I started writing about games in 1995 and I never imagined that in 25 years time, mainstream news would still be going "wow, these newfangled things make money now... but should we be worried?" Ughhh
Also @Shiny_Demon did a *brilliant* job of explaining the impact of Playstation and I wish she’d been given the whole time slot
