Important essay yes. But i think there is way too much focus on Netflix, Bollywood etc. I haven't seen any of those shows/movies cited. I exist. I consume most of such content in Telugu. But you don't have substitutes in English for Sumati Satakam for example. You don't have a "children's movie" that can beat Bhakta Prahlada or Bala Bharatham. You can still bank on connecting kids to the "old". It is not outdated yet and not threatened by comparable substitutes.
Parents have a huge role to play. It is a challenge but we don't have a choice. We can't rely on any other agents (state, media etc) . I will ensure my daughter is rooted in Telugu even if she embraces English for livelihood. I have my "anchors" for what it means to be Dharmic.
I relied on Shankaracharya parampara (and other such dharmagurus), Viswanatha Satyanarayana and various traditionalists to understand my roots. As a parent, the least i can do is to convey my side of the story to my Daughter before she falls prey to these "forces"
