Made it to the extremely impressive Etruschi - Journey Through the Lands of the Rasna exhibit at the Bologna Museo Civico Archaeologico
The mostra brings together some 1,400 objects from 60 Italian and international museums and institutions. It offers an extremely impressive overview of Etruscan culture chronologically and regionally
There are numerous old friends and famous pieces like the bi-lingual gold Pyrgi tablets w temple dedication, painted architectural terracottas from Caere, and the Tabula Cortonensis which records a land sale near Lake Trasimeno
Some personal friends as well! I shared a store room with this stunning vase from Forcello during my PhD. And I have a sneaking suspicion one of these lovely sima fragments was found on a very happy day by the recent Queens U excavations at Caere
The exhibit was organised with a chronological section before touring different regions of Etruscan Italy. Working mostly in the C and N Italy, I really enjoyed the section on Campania - lots of new things to see
Personal highlights must be the ceramic fragment w the ancient name of Marzabotto - Kainua (new city), fragments of 7th c BC textile from Verucchio, and a 4th c BC grave from Monterenzio mixing Etruscan and Celtic objects
