Disclaimer: These are all tips based on my OWN experiences & learning capabilities. Everyone has different levels of learning, so feel free not to follow every step and fit it to your own accord++
I am also aware of my privileges, so I have added alternatives for those who don’t have the materials I use so that they too will have something to take away from this thread, thank you.

1.) Have a study desk/designated area for studying
In order to study, you must have a functional study desk/table where you can study. To ensure you are comfortable, make sure to put it near an open light source (for those who don’t have lamps)& make sure its quiet+

Example above is my study desk. Make sure it is clean and well lit!
*Alternatives: If you don’t have a study desk, find a table and chair then put it in a corner (pref. near a wall) where it is quiet where you can study w/o interruptions.

2.) Read your books in advance
Pretty much self explanatory. You don’t have to “understand” and be able to “solve” everything on your first read. Just try to understand the concept and a few details and you’re good to go!

*Alternative: No time? No worries. Skim through your book. Find the lesson/page/chapter your teacher will discuss next and look for boxes/objectives/main ideas (picture below). Usually, all the important main ideas to learn are placed there.
Refer to it when you’re studying.

3.) Pay attention in class discussions
Listen to what your teacher is discussing! Focus on the lesson. For me, I usually put my phone away (or even near me but in a place I’d be lazy to get it like in a drawer beneath me).
Remove unecessary materials not needed for the lesson

4.) Have two separate lecture notebooks (scratch notebook& lecture notebook)
The reason why is that the first notebook will be used to jot notes in class WHILE THE TEACHER IS DISCUSSING IN CLASS& the other notebook is where you will transfer the notes you took in class.

*Alternatives: No extra notebook? You don’t need a new one. Use your old notebook + a paper or a clean scratch paper.
5.) Jot down everything your teacher says during discussion
Yes, EVERYTHING. The way she explains how a number turned this way or that? Write. It. Down! I mean it! Down below is my scratch notebook (mention above in the last tip) where i jot down what my teacher said.

The highlighted parts are what my teacher said about the process of solving quadratic equations. Use > or < or — or • or —> to indicate in which step does the process belong to.
*Alternative: Can’t keep up with everything your teacher says? Record the discussion/take pics of the ppt but remember USE IT FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY. do not record the discussion and send it online.
For laptops, you can screen record the discussion anytime you want!

If you’re on windows 10 ( i don’t know with other windows ver, just try it) se the windows button? (Below: the four squares) press it together with the key g! You can also use win+alt+r!

Tip in recording: if you don’t use a noise canceling earphones or a headphone/earphone, when recording turn on the microphone of the screen record. It will record the audio from your laptop’s speaker.
All videos are in your files. Just look for it in captures/videos.

6.) Ask Questions
I cannot stress it enough, ASK QUESTIONS FROM YOUR TEACHERS if you CAN’T UNDERSTAND!
I’m not mad, but I just want to stress it out a lot! All my life I have been scared to ask questions during math class, but since olc I’m brave because in class++

when your teacher asks if anybody has a question and it’s silent, no one will dare speak up and ask even if they can’t understand! what you should do is: ask first, any question you like& then watch as your classmates muster the courage the questions you don’t have to ask anymore
7.) Find your note taking system
We have different methods such as:
a. outline method
b. cornell method
c. mind map
d. sketch notes method
e. annotation
(For further explanation, don’t hesitate to message me or search it on youtube/google yourself for further research)

You don’t have to follow all! Just choose the note-taking method you think is best for that subject.
I use Outline Method and Annotating Method for Math.

8.) Leave spaces on your paper for annotating
Leave spaces so that when you review your notes, you can use a pencil to annotate/add more notes&details to your notes.
*alternative: if you don’t want to add space, another way (albeit expensive way) is to use sticky notes.

9.) Active recall/solving unanswered problems/equations
Active recall is to stimulate your brain by actually doing the problem/solving it. An example is after reviewing your notes dont just read it, try to apply it as well w/ practice problems. Ex. A number in the activity ++

that you didn’t answer in class. You can solve it when you’re reviewing for the test/quiz.
Another thing is use your book and scan for easy to hard questions regarding that lesson or topic.
Tip: if you got mistakes on the practice problems, don’t fret. Just correct it using+
