The craziest thing about these novelizations was that their release had to coincide with the film release for marketing purposes. As a kid I would often read the novelization before I got to see the actual movie; and then when I got to finally see the movie, I’d be confused because stuff was “missing.” It was because that at stuff didn’t make the final cut.
It’s actually for that exact reason that so,e people will seek out original novelizations. Those books can sometimes include details from earlier scripts that are valuable. Not so much for movies like PORKY’S, but STAR WARS? Yeah, that one had some additional backstory.
