She and Canyon Moon theory/lyrical analysis:

[Verse 1]
"Nine in the morning, the man drops his kids off at school
And he's thinking of you, like all of us do
Sends his assistant for coffee in the afternoon
Around 1:32, like he knows what to do"

I believe "the man" here is+
+meant to represent all men and the "you" refers to the idea of a wife. It is saying that due to compulsory heterosexuality and societal pressures, all men at some point have thought of a life where they conform to heterosexual ideals; a life where they have kids and a wife+
+so this is why "all of us" (men) are thinking of "you" (a wife) all while dropping kids off at school, a very mundane action you would see in a married het couple with kids do. He continues to describe the colloquial life of this man by describing how he "sends his assistant+
+for coffee in the afternoon at 1:32." So the man is living this "normal" life that all men are expected to live and once his assistant leaves and he is alone, we start to see his facade come down, all the things he's been doing (dropping his kids off, thinking of his wife) it+
+is all an act. I believe this represents the early stages of non-straight men questioning their sexuality. The stage where you realize you're pretending and start to feel doubt but not enough to stop acting
[Chorus]
She (She), she lives in daydreams with me (She)
She's the first one that I see, and I don't know why
I don't know who she is (She, she)
The chorus refers once again to all men thinking of living a colloquial heterosexual life because it is literally the first thing they are presented with, even if they "don't know who she is" (because they do not actually want to necessarily marry a woman), their initial thought+
+is that they must have an idea of what kind of woman they want in life.

[Verse 2]
He takes a boat out, imagines just sailing away (Away, away)
And not telling his mates (Not telling his mates)
He wouldn't know what to say (Wouldn't know what to say, to say)
Here, we see the man's doubts growing as he pictures escaping from these expectations and leaving to a place where he can be himself. The man does not tell his friends because when a person questions their sexuality it is hard to explain what you are feeling and even if the+
+man did try to explain he does not know how his friends would react because in his mind he is the only one feeling this way (side note: doesn't this remind anyone of Adore You where The Peculiar Boy leaves Eroda because after being forced to abide by the norms there, he just+
cannot take it and decides to sail away; also queer is LITERALLY a synonym for peculiar so...).
[Bridge]
"Lives for the memory
A woman who's just in his head (Just in his head)
And she sleeps in his bed (His bed)
While he plays pretend (Pretend)
So pretend (Pretend)"
The man lives dreaming/hoping to be able to escape to a society/place where he can explore who he is+
+freely. However, he cannot. So he stays where he is, thinking that maybe he can force himself to be with a woman hence why she is in his head. However, once he gets the women, he knows she's not what he wants so he is really just pretending and playing the role all men are+
+expected to play.
Now the connection to Canyon Moon (if you're not a larrie you might wanna leave now)

So in Canyon Moon, we have
"I heard Jenny saying, go get the kids from school"

Kidd and Jenny are an example of a mundane het couple and H is listening/watching them live-
-out the life, he knows by default (because he is a man) is expected of him; as he acknowledges in She. But he follows it with
"And I keep thinking back to/ A time under the canyon moon."
H is with this het couple but his thoughts are "sailing away" to the place where he+
+wants to go to in She and where he sails off to in Adore you after leaving Eroda. The place is his home (aka L). And to make things more interesting, he also says
"She plays songs I've never heard" +
"And I keep thinking back to/ A time under the canyon moon"
the "she" here is cou cou, she is the one he is playing pretend with because, once again, it is what society wants him to be. But all along he is off in his own little world awaiting to "sail away" to his home where he can be himself and be with the person he loves (L) 🥺
There's also another interesting line:
"The world's happy waiting
Doors yellow, broken, blue"
The world waiting is us (larries) and the "yellow door" represents cou cou bc him and cou cou being a "happy couple" is what the world sees, but behind closed doors there is the "blue"+
+aka L who he is really with. It is broken because he cannot publicly be with L so we only see fragments of their relationship through things like songs
