Just a quick reminder about a few important down-ballot races here in North Carolina. One race that has mostly gone completely under the radar is the Lieutenant Governor race between @yvonnelholley and Mark Robinson.
Holley has been an outstanding public servant who has worked across the aisles to reduce food deserts and has some incredible plans for affordable housing, workforce development, and public education. https://www.yvonnelewisholley.com/ali
Holley's qualifications should be enough for her to win this election, but there is another reason to support her. The race to control the NC Senate is incredibly close, and the chamber could end up deadlocked at 25-25, which would give the Lt. Gov. the decisive vote.
In North Carolina, in 2020, this means a role in drawing state legislative and Congressional maps that would be in place for the next decade. The NCGA has full control over drawing maps. The Governor can't veto them. Winning the senate would give both parties a seat at the table.
So, absolutely, we need to stop Trump, re-elect Cooper, and beat Tillis, but these down-ballot races matter, and Lt. Governor is especially crucial.
