Obama paying more taxes than other presidents had absolutely nothing to do with race:

1) Wealth is not taxed—income is.
2) Obama’s income came mostly from book royalties. Very few deductions there compared to most other sources of income.
As an author, when I file my taxes the deductions for business expenses are minimal. It’s just the way it works. If you write a bestseller—as Obama did—for tax purposes it is like winning the lottery. The tax burden is quite high.
Meanwhile, many people—like the Bushes—have their wealth tied up in stocks, bonds, and real estate. But this is wealth, not income. They only pay taxes on their income, but there are significant deductions available, especially for real estate.
Of course, if you run a business, the opportunities for creative tax avoidance go through the roof, which is why Trump’s tax bill has always been so low.
