Back ground on TUVALU. Tuvalu means 8 standing. Which consist of the 8 inhabited islands of Tuvalu this was they name they decided on when we became independent on 1st October 1978. There are 9 islands in total that make up Tuvalu. The islands in no particular order are:

Nukulaelae (where I’m from) Funafuti, Nukufetau, Nui, Niulakita, Niutao, Vaitupu, Nanumea & Nanumaga. Each island has slight difference in dialect but Nui speaks the Kiribati language as their ancestors are from KIRIBATI.

Each island has slight differences in the way they do their FATELE (traditional dance) however all islands require community effort to carry out the Fatele. My favourite Fatele’s are NUKULAELAE ones but again I’m bias.
