and here it is
Why Ray was a toxic boyfriend to Julie in ikwydls, a thread
1. In the beginning of the movie Ray didn't care about what Julie wanted to do with her life and instead said that she should go where he wanted to go for college instead of going to the college that would be beneficial to her future
2. Ray has a hero complex. In both movies he thought Julie would just come runnin back to him and always be happy w him just bc he saved her life like any decent person would've done in the first place. Just because he saved her life doesn't mean that she owes him a relationship.
3. Ray was insensitive to Julie's trauma. In both movies he thought taking the blame for her trauma would take it all away. He also made Julie feel bad in i still know for not wanting to go back to the town where her friends were murdered and she was attacked only a year later.
4. All throughout the first film, Ray was more worried about getting back with Julie. He confronted her many times when she made it clear she didn't want him back. It felt forced at the end of the first film when they were together and he tried to make excuses for his actions.
5. Ray made julie upset in i still know when she was goin on a vacation and invited him n instead all he did was upset her. He didn't care ab her feelins and only wanted the benefits of the relationship. He kept the mentality that if he was there julie was ok mentally/physically
6. Ray was just manipulative. He never cared about comforting julie and just wanted to explain himself and make him seem like the victim in everything so she felt bad for him. He just continously acted that way and her feel sorry for him and that's why they were together so long
Anyways end of thread but the point is, in the real world, people would see this as a toxic relationship. I've seen these relationships irl and they always end up damaging to someone's mental health. Everything about it feels manipulative and I had to get it off my chest
