If you've followed me for more than a day, you know that I am passionate about shutting down the "troubled teen" industry. The Disability Law Center is going to be investigating conditions/alleged abuse and neglect at youth residential treatment facilities (YRTFs) in Utah.

The "troubled teen" industry is HUGE in Utah, with people profiting off of mentally ill teens. Many institutions should be permanently shut down. If you're a student, staff, or parent of a teen who went to a YRTF in Utah, PLEASE fill out this survey

Also since I've gotten like 100 new followers or something since I last shared and went on this tangent, here is an article I wrote for @RootedInRights about the "troubled teen" industry: https://rootedinrights.org/long-term-residential-mental-health-institutionalization-of-teens-does-more-harm-than-good/
And here's an op-ed I wrote for @sltrib about this issue after Paris Hilton spoke about her experience at a YRTF. https://www.sltrib.com/opinion/commentary/2020/08/29/kyli-rodriguez-cayro/
To add to this thread: If you don't want to read about the "troubled teen" industry, at least listen to this podcast episode from @TrueAnonPod that details cases of abuse. If it terrifies you, it should. Many people have PTSD from going to YRTFs as teens. https://soundcloud.com/trueanonpod/brat-camp
