1/ (Thread) Yesterday I was asked to be an ‘ambassador’ for a new campaign on justice for students ( @RefundUsNow2020). It has since emerged that this campaign is also working with those whom I deem to be hard right activists.

2/ I have contacted the campaign to inform them that I no longer wish to be part of it. What is now emerging raises real doubts for me of who is actually behind this campaign and what their political aims are. I fear it may be deeply problematic.

3/ I urge the other Labour activists who are ‘ambassadors’ to withdraw as well. I will be campaigning on this issue in my own right. In my view any right-wing populists seeking to hijack the student issue do not have student interests at heart.

4/ Only the Labour movement are challenging the marketisation of education, which all of this injustice roots back to. (Ends)
