In NY we are now seeing primary schools shut down for two weeks when there is a single positive COVID case.

If we treated schools like nursing homes in NY, we would force schools to keep the kids, lock them in the building together and keep families from visiting for months.
Isn't the differential policy response interesting?
But before the schools turn out the lights for two weeks, all the kids have to come together one last day to pick up all of their materials, laptops, books, etc.
In simple terms, many of the people making decisions have no idea what they are doing.

There is no critical thinking about the incompatibility of shutting things down because OH MY GOD COVID but then having the kids come to school one more day.
Just as there was no critical thinking about sending COVID positive cases back into nursing homes where vulnerable people reside.

It is amazing to see so many wrong decisions made in a serial fashion.
I believe that masks and social distancing and even vaccines will help -

But having some critical thinking happening once in a while would probably help more.
