Hey, what& #39;s a band that has a lot of known songs but no real signature song? We did that minivan rock list and Matchbox Twenty should have been real high on it but they didn& #39;t have that one song to represent them, all their hits just split the vote
First one that comes to mind for me: Belle & Sebastian? They seem to have many songs and albums people like but nothing that& #39;s obviously more prominent than any others
People offering lots of examples but the first one I& #39;ve heard I& #39;d really agree with is Everclear
Van Morrison is a possible example in that he has one obvious song that& #39;s way bigger than the others but it& #39;s so unrepresentative of his work, and no clear frontrunner in his more Van Morrison-y songs
Also: U2? I think it& #39;d have to be one of the three big singles from The Joshua Tree. But then, "Sunday Bloody Sunday"? "One"? Too hard to say, I think they& #39;d count
There are a lot of bands that don& #39;t have a consensus signature song but for which I have my own answers that I have strong feelings about and won& #39;t be budged.
What I got from this thread is that I have thought a lot harder about this question than most people. I had immediate answers for most artists, and a lot of them shouldn& #39;t have even be suggested. Queen has a signature song, I& #39;m not even gonna dignify this by naming it
